The Book - Pivot between Science, Art and Audience

The Media-day 2007 was held this year on April 23, which was “World Book
Day”. The event, which has been put on by the Innsbruck Newspaper
Archive and the University Library in cooperation with the IMS, ran
under the motto The Book - Pivot between Science, Art and Audience . The program consisted of a lecture series and a panel discussion on the theme “Why Books?”. Members of the Innsbruck Media Studies, the University Library, and guests from both within and outside of the university participated in the event, which was directed at students, university staff, pupils, and all other interested persons.

Regional Media Landscapes

After a presentation of current media projects at the University of Innsbruck on the topic of regional media landscapes (print-media, film and radio projects, digital libraries, literature and culture journals, etc.) there was held a panel discussion with reference to current developments between media pluralism and media concentration.

In the discussion took part Mag. Markus Sommersacher (ORF), HR. Dr. Martin Wieser (University library), Mag. Frank Staud (TT), Dr. Raffael Mooswalder (Print media in South Tyrol), Markus Hatzer (University press).
